The spot price is sourced from LBMA/COMEX data and converted using the prevailing USD/MYR exchange rate. Three weight units are supported: gram (the metric standard used in Malaysian retail gold shops), tola (11.6638 grams, used by South Asian jewellers), and troy ounce (31.1035 grams, the international commodity quotation standard).

Purity factors range from 0.999 (24K — 99.9% pure gold) to 0.375 (9K — 37.5% pure gold). The most traded purities in Malaysia are 999 (24K) for investment bars and 916 (22K) for traditional jewellery. The calculator output represents the raw gold content value at the spot price. Actual retail prices include additional costs: making charges (10%–30% for jewellery craftsmanship), dealer premiums (2%–5% for bars), and applicable SST (6% on non-exempt gold products).

What is the difference between a gram and a tola in gold measurement?
A gram is the base unit of mass in the International System of Units (SI). A tola is a traditional South Asian unit of mass equal to 11.6638 grams (defined as 3/8 of a troy ounce). Tola remains the standard weight unit at Indian and Pakistani jewellery shops in Malaysia, while gram is used at Malay and Chinese gold shops and in bank gold savings accounts.
Why is 916 gold the standard for jewellery in Malaysia?
